History

The political, social, economic, and cultural developments of Islamic culture are discussed in Islamic history. The majority of historians think that Islam began in Mecca and Medina around the year 700 CE. Muslims see Islam as a return to the Abrahamic prophets’ original religion, which included Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, and Jesus, as well as submission (Islam) to God’s will.

According to history, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) began receiving Divine revelations in 610 CE, calling for submission to the one God, anticipation of the impending Last Judgement, and compassion for the poor and destitute. Muhammad’s preaching gained a few converts but was greeted with increasing resistance from Meccan rulers. Muhammad moved to Yathrib in 622 CE, a few years after losing protection due to the death of his powerful uncle Abu Talib (now known as Medina). Following Muhammad’s death in 632 CE, there was a dispute about who would head the Muslim community throughout the Rashidun Caliphate.
